The KNAUS Campingpark Eschwege is located about 1 km northeast of Eschwege, picturesquely situated on a peninsula between the Werratalsee and the Werra river. This idyllic location offers a perfect mix of nature experiences and leisure activities. Right next to the extensive sunbathing lawn on the southern shore of the lake, the campsite invites you to sunbathe, swim and enjoy water sports.
The Werratalsee offers a variety of activities such as surfing, sailing and beach fun. Exciting events such as the Hessian rowing championships and sailing regattas provide additional highlights. For nature lovers, the 7-kilometre circular route around the lake is a wonderful opportunity to explore the region's unspoilt landscape. Hikers can discover the region on a total of 23 premium hiking trails, while cyclists can explore the area comfortably on the well-developed Werratal cycle path.
The Werra offers guided canoe tours and organised raft trips for adventurers. At the campsite itself, a giant Ludo game, a boccia court and a play tent provide entertainment on rainy days. After an eventful day, visitors can relax in the campsite bistro or stock up on regional products at the weekly market in the centre of Eschwege.

Visitors experience culture and history up close in the picturesque half-timbered town of Eschwege. The early medieval district town captivates with its historic town centre, which includes more than 1,000 impressive half-timbered houses. During a themed city tour, visitors have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the fascinating history of the city and learn the stories behind the unique half-timbered houses. The inviting pedestrian zone, lined with numerous shopping opportunities and charming cafés, also invites you to stroll and linger. Eschwege is a place where history comes to life and cultural experiences await you at every turn.
Eschwege is also known for its diverse cultural programme. The Johannisfest, the Open Flair music festival and the Herbstzauber (autumn magic) in the Botanical Garden are just a few of the annual highlights. For families, the espada leisure and indoor pool offers over 20 attractions in the espadino WasserSpaßGarten, providing plenty of fun, while adults can find relaxation in the sauna area.
The unique low mountain range landscape around Eschwege offers breathtaking views of the Hohe Meißner, the Thuringian Forest and the Eichsfeld. A special excursion destination is the Wartburg in Eisenach, about 50 km away, where Martin Luther once translated the Bible into German. An absolute must for lovers of culture and history.
