Excursions

The Moselle valley is one of the most charming river valleys in Europe and thanks to the mild climate all year round it is a popular and multi-faceted holiday region in Germany.

There is adrenaline and action for young and old on the "Geierlay". The suspension bridge connects the two communities of Mörsdorf and Sosberg and offers a spectacular view of the Hunsrück forests. Take advantage of your visit for a short hike. The bridge is part of the Geierlay circular loop, which leads through the surrounding forests for 3.6 km or 5.5 km.

Experience history here and walk on the "streets of the Romans". This project brings together around 80 Roman monuments along the Moselle: From excavation projects to the reconstructed complex, from professionally sound guided tours to interesting adventure offers – it is a treasure trove for exciting excursions with the whole family.

Explore the numerous castles and castle ruins that rise on the slate slopes along the river to the left and right. The castle Bischofstein with its 20m high accessible donjon is particularly charming. At the "Living Castle", young and old get an insight into the real life of a knight.

The historic city of Cochem with its majestic imperial castle and picturesque alleys enchants thousands of visitors from all over the world every year. Like many places along the Moselle Cochem was inhabited by Celts and Romans before the city was first mentioned in documents in the 9th century and grew into an important centre of the region in the Middle Ages.

Discover the culture the cosy and familiar wine taverns which are spread throughout the Moselle valley. Even in the smallest village the winegrowers serve their guests regional specialities and fine fruity Riesling. Enjoy the hospitality of the locals and let them tell you some of the legends and stories about the castles of the area.
